Shishir Bhattacharjee's cartoons

Shishir Bhattacharjee’s paintings are distinctly apart from his contemporaries. He has earned a reputation for the satire he portrays through his paintings and cartoons. According to art critic, Abul Mansur, ‘Shishir’s macabre interpretations of the social condition in which he lives in, his agonised sarcasm directed towards the godfathers of the society and his keen sense of wit and jest have given his paintings a distinct artistic vocabulary of his own. It is also true that his cartoons draw heavily from his paintings, which are very natural.
